Community Update - October
Hello from the first week of Fall in Houston! The weather has finally “cooled down” to a high of mid 80s, but we’re still applying HEAT to all that we’re doing.
Highlights:
We are halfway through construction!
We got a nice shout out in Houston Eater as we geared up for our first collab pop-up with our friends at Burger Bodega, a local favorite joint. Nick will be showcasing a Honey Pecan Shrimp Toast and a Taiwanese Beef Chopped Cheese
NBD/No Big Deal (things that are not great but we are handling like pros):
We identified a few exterior issues during construction, i.e. an overgrown vegetation (see pics below) and an exposed water pipe that needs to be relocated
Highlights:
Our next pop-up is a ticketed dinner serving rotisserie duck on 11/16 with Craft Pita, another local favorite joint!
Our recent General Manager job posting garnered us a good slate of candidates that we’ll be interviewing in the upcoming weeks
Shout outs:
Brian for helping us to source furniture and flatware
Brina for doing an OKR (objective key results) workshop with us and helping us to brainstorm concrete 1st-year goals
Brina, Henry, and Melissa for all the great leads when we found ourselves scrambling for tiles
Vincent Quan for sharing his experience of co-directorship to help inform our own reporting structure
